Student Smiling

Grant students are able to appreciate the importance of demonstrating their PARRT by doing their personal best, being active listeners, responsible, respectful, and trustworthy.

A number of co-curricular and enrichment opportunities are available for Grant students. Students have the opportunity to participate in the gifted and talented program. Our school also partners with Kids on Course (KOC) which offers after-school tutoring and enrichment.

The Grant community is very supportive of the work that we do at our school. Our PTA offers many positive experiences which include extra-curricular field trip opportunities, funding for special school projects, and teaming up with our building leadership team to offer reading and math nights. They also provide social events for our families.

We have active Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops who support the mission of our school. Our School + Community Partners, Bank Iowa, Western Fraternal, and IMON provide volunteers to help students with reading and math skills.

Grant was built in 1961 and originally served a kindergarten through sixth grade population. It closed in 1987 due to declining enrollment but reopened in 1990 as one of two Cedar Rapids Community School District early childhood centers. In the fall of 2012, Grant became an elementary school, serving kindergarten through fifth grade.
